Position Title: Custodial Services Facilities Lead

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Primary Function: Under the direction of the building Principal, will lead the custodial team in performing daily custodial activities at assigned location. Maintains buildings and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly, and secure condition. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, including modern methods for cleaning floors, whiteboards, carpet, tile, furniture, walls, and fixtures. Provide training and work direction, as needed. Knowledge of proper storing of equipment, materials, and supplies. Perform all aspects of the position following District safety guidelines and procedures. Knowledge of proper safe lifting techniques. Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques. Knowledge of inventory management.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditions

 

Ability to lift and transport up to 40 pounds over short distances and short periods of time

 

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment

 

Qualifications:

Minimum of high school diploma or GED

Good oral and written communication skills

Previous experience performing custodial and light maintenance duties

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.


Essential Functions:

 

Perform routine daily custodial activities individually or as part of a team at an assigned location

 

Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors

 

Spot clean, vacuum and shampoo carpets and rugs in classrooms, offices, and other work areas

 

Train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel

 

Clean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, facilities, and adjacent grounds, as assigned

 

Paint walls, as needed

 

Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including but not limited to sinks, toilets, and urinals

 

Fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items

 

Clean mirrors, tile, and windows

 

Unclog drains and toilets, as needed

 

Remove gum, graffiti, paper and other debris from school buildings, furniture, grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to school/other facilities

 

Sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school/other facilities

 

Perform various custodial activities including replacing light bulbs and tubes, replacing air filters, cleaning whiteboards, and emptying pencil sharpeners and waste receptacles

 

Lock and unlock doors and gates, and set and disarm alarms, as assigned

 

Maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines

 

Report maintenance requests and safety and fire hazards to appropriate personnel

 

Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, strippers, steam cleaners, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned

 

Clean and  arrange furniture and equipment for set up/breakdown of meetings and special events in classrooms, multi-purpose rooms and other areas. 

 

Perform a variety of routine general maintenance and repairs on equipment and furniture, as needed

 

Dust and polish furniture and woodwork

 

Monitor inventory levels of custodial supplies and equipment and communicate inventory needs to assigned zone manager

 

Communicate with District personnel and outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues of concern, as needed

 

Prepare and maintain records and reports related to work orders, personnel and assigned activities

 

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
