Position Title: ATSI Instructional Coach

Salary Schedule: State-Based Plus Local Supplement

FLSA: Exempt

Primary Function:   Works with special education teachers and students with disabilities in identified ATSI schools to improve the quality of teaching and student learning in any of the core content areas (reading, language arts, math, science, or social studies) with a focus on specially designed instruction and overall school improvement.

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required in Special Education, Masters’ Degree or higher preferred; Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in one or more areas of Special Education

Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience required

Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in schools with a Title I program preferred

Experience with leading and/or facilitating groups/and instructional coaching

Demonstrated experience with leading professional development and/or program implementation

Good oral and written communication skills

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.


Essential Functions:

 

Assists teachers and grade level teams of ATSI schools with implementation of Georgia Standards of Excellence for all students with disabilities

 

Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods within identified ATSI schools

 

Analyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taught

 

Analyzes student test data and advises teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs, and effective practices

 

Recommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments needed

 

Analyzes fiscal needs, software, and equipment needs based on the current needs assessment to support specifically designed instruction made from local school ATSI budget

 

Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies in identified ATSI schools

 

Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes

 

Serves as the liaison for professional learning between Special Education Department (ESEP) and identified ATSI schools

 

Conducts professional development at identified ATSI schools as needed

 

Conducts routine classroom observations and provides feedback to Title I Coaches, district and school leaders

 

Participates in periodic professional learning activities available through the district, GADOE and RESA

 

Gathers and maintains all required ATSI documentation and records.
