Aid the classroom teacher in meeting the needs of the visually impaired students enrolled in the regular classroom
|

Provide individualized instruction outside the classroom including reading and writing skills, typing, study techniques, visual stimulation, body awareness, visual and motor coordination, listening skills, and subject areas indicated by classroom teacher
|
|
Order supplies and materials necessary to meet the students' IEP
|
|
Evaluate students referred from visual screening
|
|
Provide instruction in mobility including training in movement and in pre-cane skills for safe and efficient travel in and out of the classroom
|
|
Counsel with teachers and parents on developmental problems of students
|
|
Develop, implement, monitor, and review the IEP of each handicapped student on the caseload, at least annually
|
|
Effectively utilize available technology in development of IEP and related documents
|
|
Assure all due process procedural safeguards are afforded students and their parents
|
|
Administer on an on-going basis evaluation of student progress toward mastery of established goals and objectives
|
|
Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
|
|
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner
|
|
Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignment
|
|
Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities
|
|
Ensure adherence to safety procedures
|
|
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
|
|
Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
