Primary Function: Ability to learn and utilize routine methods and procedures to be followed in instructional settings. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal or designee daily.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
Constant interruptions
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone
Seeing to read a variety of materials
Sitting for extended periods of time
Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials
Lifting a student up to a weight of 40 pounds without assistance
Perform a two-person lift for students over 40 pounds
Perform specialized healthcare procedures
Qualifications:
Education level must be in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines
Certification as mandated by the Professional Standards Commission
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Provide support to students in resource, self-contained and/or regular classroom settings
Assist with supervision of students
Conduct small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher
Assist with student assessment, grading work and tests, and collecting data on student progress
Assist with routine recordkeeping
Assist with preparation of materials for instruction, including copying of materials, construction of displays/bulletin boards, learning centers and manipulatives
Locate, operate, and return needed equipment
Participates in school functions, field trips and extracurricular activities, as indicated.
Performs specialized health care procedures including gastrostomy feedings, tracheotomy care, catheterization (e.g., reinsertion of trach, suctioning).
Assists with toileting, diapering, feeding, and meeting other physical needs.
Assists with the movement of students from one area of the school to another, or with specialized positioning using lumbar belt as required.
Assist with classroom housekeeping
Assist in ordering and inventory of classroom equipment and materials
Assist with school-wide supervision such as loading/unloading buses
Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner
Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment
Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities
Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
